From the earliest days of making music, in fact even prior to starting to make music, I was interested in the sound of records. In the 70's when I was in my early teens I was listening to the pop records of the day but the ones who stood out to me were the ones who had the sound. I'm not sure how producers like George 'Shadow' Morton, Phil Spector, Tony Visconti or even Abba influenced me but I can remember when given the chance to experiment in a studio, or even just at home with home made effects pedals, I was very conscious of the sound as a whole, the whole being more than the sum of the individual parts. I guess this is the one production value that I've stuck with over the years...
